System Insights has become a member of the the US-India Aviation Cooperation Partnership (ACP). The US-India Aviation Cooperation Program (ACP) was established in 2007 as a public-private partnership between the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA), US aviation companies and the Government of India. The ACP supports the growth of the Indian civil aerospace sector by working directly with the Government of India to identify and execute projects that encourage collaboration between US and Indian stakeholders and provide access to US expertise, technology, and best practices.

Dr. Steven Ray, a Distinguished Research Fellow at Carnegie Mellon University Silicon Valley, and a Special Advisor to UC Berkeley’s Center for Information Technology Research in the Interest of Society (CITRIS), joins System Insights’ advisory board. Dr. Ray brings to the board expertise on information interoperability and standards for domains including the smart electrical grid, electronic business, supply chains and manufacturing.

We participated in the Defense Manufacturer’s Conference 2009 in Orlando, Florida, showcasing the MTConnect standard in applications to improve manufacturing efficiency and productivity. The value of SI technology in improving warfighter readiness and decreasing platform costs was demonstrated, along with the benefits of using standardized interfaces such as MTConnect in communicating with manufacturing equipment.

other manufacturing equipment is already helping shops and plants implement
effective machine monitoring systems. Although these “early adopters” are
motivated by the long-term promise of enterprise-wide efficiency gains, their
experience with pilot projects shows that benefits derived in the short term
are substantial and worthwhile.
