MTConnect provides a standard way to retrieve real-time data from manufacturing devices. Originally developed by AMT and UC Berkeley as a way to best leverage ubiquitous protocols and communication standards, XML and HTTP, MTConnect provides an ideal mechanism to monitor and analyze manufacturing processes. MTConnect also provides the foundation to move to a plug-and-play environment where robots and machine tools will communicate without costly integration services.
